Westward!

Westward!

We headed out in a light rain and after a few hours we were at our home for the next two nights. A Brewery called Fort Bayou Brewing Company. They had a large parking lot out back and several RV’s were already there. They were in a great location with all kinds of stores that we needed. We bought some groceries, dropped by Camping World and filled up our LP tank. We even got a mattress topper at Target for…

Overnight train to Shanghai!

Overnight train to Shanghai!

So after meeting our new roommates it was pretty much time to go to bed. The train ride was going to be about 15 hours which would have us getting in to Shanghai around 12:30 PM . The beds were surprisingly comfortable and spacious and before long we were off to sleep. Apparently at some point I was sleeping a little too good and snoring. Lyn was trying to get me to be quiet and the two ladies were telling…

Going to Xi’an at 150 Miles per hour!

Going to Xi’an at 150 Miles per hour!

The train left Chengdu at exactly 9:00 and headed for Xi’an. Our average speed was about 150 miles per hour. It was so smooth and we loved seeing the cities and countryside go by as we traveled along. The train ride only took about 3 hours and rolled in at 12:17 right on schedule. Our new friend made sure we were off the train and heading in the right direction and the next thing we knew we were greeted by…

Hanoi…………….Beautiful Chaos!!!

Hanoi…………….Beautiful Chaos!!!

Well in an order to catch up the blog I am going to put all of our time in Hanoi in this blog post. Although we only had two days here we really loved the vibe and think from our limited travels that it may just be our favorite place that we have been to in Vietnam. That’s saying a lot because we have loved every place so far. We landed in Hanoi about 3:30 and decided to take the…

Dang…………… Da Nang!

Well we got up and shockingly it was Julie’s last day. How did this happen?!?!? She left for the airport in Da Nang at 8 AM. The hotel set up her driver and even gave her some snacks for the road. Its always sad to have these times when someone has to leave but dang we would have to say that we made the most of Julies time here! I cannot think of too many things we missed. Julie hung…

Goodbye Saigon, Hello Hoi An

Wow I have some catching up to do. After our great food tour we were ready to spend the next day in Ho Chi Minh with Julie seeing a few sights and trying to think of ways to beat the heat. (AC is the only way by the way!!!) After breakfast at the hotel we went out in the morning and headed to the Saigon main post office. It was a historic landmark that was a beautiful building and still…

The hang on to your seats “Saigon Street Eats” Food Tour

OK hang on to your seats for this one because that is exactly what we did all night long. Our food tour was supposed to start at 5:30. Julie’s flight that had been delayed arrived in time for her to arrive at our hotel about 4:30. At 5:25 we all met downstairs for our food tour. Su Le from Saigon Street Eats was already there with a big smile on her face and a very welcoming nature. She said that…
