Jasper Miles ?/2008 – 05/ 09/2022

Well today is the day I knew was coming and I have been dreading it for some time now. Jasper made his last trip and it was over the rainbow bridge. To say I am heartbroken would be an understatement however it does not take long to realize how lucky I was to have him. So many awesome memories come flooding back. In 2008 I made a trip to the dog pound in Greensboro just to “look around”! All of…

Mesa Verde National Park

Mesa Verde National Park

We arrived at Mesa Verde National Park in their off season on April 29th which meant the park was open but had limited access as in no camp store, no bathrooms and limited hours in the Visitor Center. We had no cell service when we arrived but we found out the Visitor Center had great WiFi so we hung out there awhile and just enjoyed having access to the Internet. We overheard someone say that the campground was open. I…

Heading West Take 2!

Heading West Take 2!

So after having a great time with family and friends it was time to head back out west. On our last trip out we got as far as Albuquerque, New Mexico. That is a great jumping off point for many of the locations we still want to visit. I noticed that Mesa Verde National Park was only a about 40 miles north of Albuquerque so we decided to head there but this time go right through the center of the…

Storm of the Century!

Storm of the Century!

Sorry for such a big delay on the Blog. I find it very hard to write these if more than a week goes by. So below is an attempt to catch us up! When we left off we were boon-docking outside of Albuquerque New Mexico with a big storm headed our way. So we woke up in the morning with our new plan of heading south to try to avoid the storm and its single digit temperatures. We decided to…

Navigational Arrows, Airmail and Marshmallow Sunsets

Navigational Arrows, Airmail and Marshmallow Sunsets

We woke up at the Valley of Fires Campground and just enjoyed the start of the day. About midmorning we dumped our tanks added a little fresh water and were on our way. We were headed Northwest to a town called Prewitt. It is a very small town about an hour west of Albuqurque. I was told that there was a Navigational Arrow there that was in pretty good shape and I wanted to see it. About a month ago…

Illegal Four Point Road Turns, Military Missile Bases and other Shenanigans!

Illegal Four Point Road Turns, Military Missile Bases and other Shenanigans!

So we woke up at Aguirre Springs Campground and found ourselves in one of the most beautiful campsite locations yet. If you remember we arrived after dark last night and we could not see a  thing. We had awesome mountain peaks behind us and a beautiful view in front of us! All of this for $7 a night. We took our time getting going and after having breakfast and taking a few pictures it was finally time to head to…

Heading North To Guadalupe National Park

Heading North To Guadalupe National Park

While Big Bend National Park did not disappoint it was time to head north. We had about a six hour drive to get to Guadalupe National Park and while we love to travel we try to keep our drive days to under 5 hours. Since Guadalupe was the next natural place to stay we decided to push on. We arrived at Guadalupe NP about 4:45 and Lyn went in to get her park book stamped and also got a map…

Big Bend National Park!

Big Bend National Park!

Well, finally we arrived and after taking several pictures at the Big Bend sign we headed in. Its another 60 miles or so in to get to the visitor center so we had plenty of time to take it all in. It is beautiful in every way. Lots of dessert, rock formations and the closer you get, the Mountains of Big Bend just get bigger and bigger in your windshield. They had several pull overs but we kept going and…

San Antonio Here We Come!

San Antonio Here We Come!

So we said goodbye to Magnolia beach and headed towards San Antonio. Pretty uneventful drive. We were staying with a Boondockers Welcome host and would be parking overnight at his shop. I had requested to stay there the day before and they accepted within 30 minutes. Once they accept we get the exact address and after filling up our gas tank we headed north. The drive was pretty uneventful and we even made a few more stops along the way….

Beach Front Property Please!

Beach Front Property Please!

So after getting run off from New Orleans we finally found shelter at a Cracker Barrel. We were told we could park out front and that is exactly what we did. We were the only RV that spent the night that night. We slept pretty good considering we were very close to the highway. I think we were tired with all the excitement in New Orleans. Anyway we always look around us and see if there was anything we should…
