Hello………….Vietnam!!!!!

Hello………….Vietnam!!!!!

So we told Julie to keep us posted on her trip as best she could so we could follow her progress. For someone in a stranded situation I would say she did pretty good. We heard from her when she left the hotel and the next thing we knew she was blogging from the Chiang Mai airport lounge using her handy dandy Priority Pass. Remember that is the pass we got with our Hilton American Express cards. Lyn and I…

Craziest travel day to date!

Craziest travel day to date!

So today is the day we fly to Vietnam! While we hate to leave Chiang Mai and all of its groovyness we all have never been to Vietnam so we were all super excited to go and meet this new (to us) country. We still had some Priority Pass airport lounge passes to use so we decided to head to the airport around 11. That way we could have a free lunch in the lounge and then catch our flight…

Going Local In Chiang Mai!

Going Local In Chiang Mai!

Today we decided to go local by eating every meal from street vendors or little hole in the wall places that only locals ate at.  We also planned on touring Temples or Wat’s as they are called here.  Around 9 AM we left the hotel and literally walked around the corner and there was a busy market were locals were buying vegetables and meat to cook back home as well as many cooked foods to eat right there. We walked…

Another Groovy Day in Chiang Mai!!!

Another Groovy Day in Chiang Mai!!!

Well here we are again waking up in the beautiful town of Chiang Mai. Like I have said earlier we are enjoying temperatures that are at least 10 degrees cooler than last year. This has allowed us to walk just about everywhere which has been wonderful. This morning we headed back to the same breakfast place Cafe de Thaan Aoan. We pretty much had the same fare and it was as delicious as it was yesterday. Remember when I said…

Ahhhhhhh Chiang Mai!

Ahhhhhhh Chiang Mai!

After a good nights sleep we headed out to breakfast at a restaurant near our hotel. This hotel was the same as the one we stayed in last year except this year it was free for all of us due to credit card bonus points.(Yea us!) Nothing like making an inexpensive place even cheaper! The one thing that is nice about not getting breakfast included is it frees you up to try a different places and not get stuck in…

Finally the White Temple!

Finally the White Temple!

We actually tried to come to Chiang Rai last year to see the White Temple but we were coming from Chiang Mai and the buses were sold out on the day we wanted to go. So we were excited for this morning. The plan was to catch the local bus in all its glory and ride it to the temple at 8:15. We got up in plenty of time to grab a bite to eat and head to the bus…

Goodbye Singapore………..Hello Land of Smiles!

Today would be a travel day and we are headed to the Kingdom of Thailand. We are flying to Chiang Rai a city in northern Thailand. We had planned on getting to the airport early enough to visit the lounge…

Singapore Day 2 (AKA Food day!)

Singapore Day 2 (AKA Food day!)

So today it would just be the three of us. We met at 8:30 and went to the breakfast buffet at the Hilton. Remember we had reserved these rooms with free Hilton points from the American Express card. Due to Julie’s Gold member status we all received the buffet free as well. There was a crazy amount of food which we got to eat while looking over the pool area. Beautiful!!!  Now that we had our belly’s full it was…

Kuta Beach & Heading for Singapore!

Kuta Beach & Heading for Singapore!

So we arrived at Kuta beach in time for Lunch. The hotel we were staying at was on the beach but you still had to walk a couple hundred yards to actually get on the beach. It was really nice room with a roof top…
